The Norwegian tanker Aramis was intercepted in the South Atlantic by German raider Michel with attendant motor torpedo boats on July 16th, 1942. She was torpedoed by a torpedo boat but was able to continue on her course. For some hours she was shelled by the torpedo boat until, early on the 17th, the latter was able to board her. She was then sunk with explosive charges.
