At 20.48 hours on 30 Jul, 1942, the unescorted Danmark (Master E. Honore Christensen) was hit aft by two torpedoes from U-130 south of the Cape Verde Islands. The ship had been chased for 10 hours by the U-boat which then surfaced and finished off the vessel with the deck gun, firing 74 rounds until she sank by the stern at 21.50 hours. The master, 37 crew members and eight gunners were picked up by the Norwegian motor tanker Mosli and landed at Freetown.
