AMC Bulolo served in the south Atlantic  firstly from January to April 40. From May 40 to November 41 she joined the  Freetown Escort Force, returning to her duties in the south Atlantic station from December 41 to March 1942. 


She spent much of the time on escort duties travelling between the Americas, South Africa and Britain carrying mainly troops and supplies. Apart from her escort duties Bulolo due to armament and speed, was used to search for German Raiders and in the recapture of Vichy French ships.
